The Difference “Kindness” Makes
With all the negative news stories that we hear each day it is often hard to appreciate those things in our life that contribute to our greatest wellbeing and health. Being grateful and positive is one of the best ways to remain happy and healthy when so much is happening in our world today that can create fear and anxiety.
Experts say that to feel better you need to treat yourself kindly—this is called “self-compassion”—and focus on the positive, by being optimistic. Research shows self-compassionate people cope better with everything from a major relationship breakup to the loss even of their car keys. They don’t compound their misery by beating themselves up over every unfortunate accident or mistake. Being kind to yourself can even help you cope better with memory lapses, arthritis and the other difficulties of getting older.
We can’t change our genes or our experiences, but experts say we can change the way we interpret what has happened in the past.
Everyone has an optimistic and a pessimistic circuit in their brain, says Elaine Fox, visiting research professor at the University of Oxford, England, and director of the Affective Neuroscience Laboratory in the Department of Psychology at the University of Essex. Fear, rooted in the amygdala, helps us identify and respond to threats and is at the root of pessimism. Optimism, in contrast, is rooted in the nucleus accumbens, the brain’s pleasure center, which responds to food, sex and other healthy, good things in life.
Essential oils, well known for their physical benefits, play a crucial role in emotional healing. They also assist in raising the vibrational frequency of the physical body making it easier to release suppressed emotions. Anger, sadness, grief, feelings of low self worth and judgment cannot exist in a state of balance which the essential oils and peace of mind help create.
Healing occurs as old feelings surface and release. Trapped emotions come to the surface and are released, replaced by positive feelings and a balanced state of being.
Essential oils don’t do this work all on their own. Using positive affirmations and being kind to yourself in combination with either yoga, meditation and other similar modalities help assist you to gain balance and a feeling of control over your daily life. You can then experience real results that do make a difference.
Just don’t accept anything negative, push it straight from you mind and try to only think positive thoughts. Imagine your heart centre releasing any suppressed emotions.
It might be hard at first but remember it takes 21 days to set down the neural pathways in the brain to become a habit. And that’s what you want: a positive, happy habit to automatically kick in each and every day. Human beings have an enormous capacity for change. We also have an enormous capacity to love and care for someone else.
And to increase your happiness and peach of mind … show kindness and compassion to others. Pass it on!
