Balanced Essentials began as ...

Tuesday, 3 October 2017 4:30:18 PM Australia/Sydney

Balanced Essentials Aromatherapy began as a vision in May 1996 to provide a balance between conventional and alternative with emphasis on educating and supporting people in their endeavour to heal themselves.

Cheryl Gilbert, owner, creator and the energy behind Balanced Essentials began her love of fragrance as a child mixing her aunt's expensive French perfumes. An intense interest in Aromatherapy and a desire to create her own products developed into producing the Balanced Essentials range.

Most people that are drawn to aromatherapy do so out of a desire to reduce the stress in their lives and achieve benefits from these essential oils.

All the development, from the colour and quality of the packaging, unique design, blends that are simple and easy to use and support the many moods and diverse needs of individuals.

Extensive research was carried out to find the exact formulations that were the most appropriate and effective for the blends. An intuitive approach to the blending and a skill for creating appealing fragrances allowed each product to also have a wonderful aroma as well as creating all the benefits that each blend offered.

BE Relieved – A Calming Blend for Pain & Inflammation and  BE Sport – A Stimulating Blend for Pain & Inflammation (as shown on A Current Affair),  and BE Lite for Cellulite are the premier products of the company and are supported by a range of massage/facial blends, pure essential oil blends for the vapouriser, natural soaps, hand cream (winner of 2016 Nature & Beauty Awards and natural deodorant (winner of 2016 Nature & Health Beauty Awards).  All these products are made using the highest quality therapeutic essential oils and other natural botanical extracts.

Cheryl’s products – the Balanced Essentials range – has been one of the top three ranges ever promoted on TVSN (The Television Shopping Network Channel on Foxtel & Optus) in the Health & Beauty category, and have held the records for the largest amount of sales in one day and the fastest sales of any product.  Her products also have the reputation of having the highest repeat sales to existing customers and the least number of product returns. Her live TV shows which were first aired in March 2000 throughout Australia & New Zealand have attracted a large audience of customers. Their comments and testimonials to the incredible effectiveness of the products outnumber any that has ever been received by TVSN.

In March 2008 Cheryl co-authored a research paper "Pain Management using Essential Oils and Aromatherapy Validated by Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging Technology” with Ric Williams (Industrial and Environmental Chemist) and Pauline Rose (Thermographer – Thermography Australia)   and presented it at the 42nd Conference of the Australian Society of Cosmetic Chemists in March at The Marriot, Surfer's Paradise.  The results of this research have been ground-breaking and support the scientific inclusion of aromatherapy in medicine, cosmetics, toiletries and perfumery.  This is an advance on the petrochemical/chemical inclusion that prevails in general products available in the marketplace now. We are seeing more and more allergic reactions to synthetic additives and consumers are now demanding (and rightly so) safe and effective natural products.

In the July 2008 issue of Personal Care Magazine (published in the UK and is distributed worldwide) our research paper "Using Digital Thermal Imaging to Validate Pain Relief with Essential Oils" was included.  It was the only technical paper to be included.

On 17 April 2009 BE Relieved and BE Sport were shown on A Current Affair as the ‘miracle oils’.

Cheryl feels privileged to be involved in the aromatherapy and health industry and is humbled by the support and encouragement of her many repeat customers. She is passionately engaged in ongoing development and research to prove the use and efficacy of essential oils. Her aim is to encourage the acceptance of aromatherapy as a first-measure treatment of pain and inflammation.

BE RELIEVED, BE SPORT, BE LITE ... Which one do I chose?

Wednesday, 13 September 2017 2:56:36 PM Australia/Sydney

It's really very simple.

BE RELIEVED is our most popular pain relief product and that's because it's so versatile. As well as helping with pain and inflammation it is also very calming and is the best one to use at night to help with sleep. Geranium oil is used for its anti-inflammatory properties, while Bergamot and Orange are used for their anti-spasmodic properties. Neroli helps with calming and is used in aromatherapy for shock and grief. BE RELIEVED also combines lavender and marjoram for their pain relief and sedative properties.

BE SPORT is a good choice when you need a stimulating blend to help wake you up and prepare you for any activity. It is ideal to use before or after sport as it assists to prevent muscle cramps and spasms and reduces swelling, while also providing temporary relief of muscular aches and pains. BE SPORT increases circulation to the muscles and stimulates the brain by the inclusion of basil and rosemary. It also helps smooth out any muscles in spasm and is very good at helping with any bruising because it contains arnica essential oil which also helps with muscle strains and sprains, swelling and cramps. It helps damaged, inflamed tissue recover quickly. BE SPORT incorporates Lemongrass oil to help tone muscle, Lemon oil to assist peripheral circulation and Bergamot and Orange oils for their anti-spasmodic properties.

BE LITE for Cellulite helps with the body by speeding up the removal of toxins.  Many of our customers choose this product when they have a problem with fluid e.g. ankles, knees or when they have problems with lymphodaema. BE LITE is formulated for use on the buttocks, thighs, stomach and arms and works to improve the appearance of skin by reducing fluid retention, assisting blood circulation and stimulating circulation. BE LITE combines the astringent properties of Cypress and Frankincense oils with Ginger oil to assist in the maintenance of peripheral circulation as well as Juniper oil, known for its benefits in reducing fluid retention. Orange and Sage are used to aid and help stimulate digestion.

Paracetamol is the most widely prescribed and recommended systemic analgesic used to relieve pain. It has no curative abilities, yet you often hear people comment that the doctor told them to “go home and have some paracetamol” without fully realising that it only masks the condition or complaint. Pharmaceutical analgesics do not work on the cause of pain itself – only the sensation.

Paracetamol in new health ALERT: Doctors warned over prescribing daily painkiller. Taking a daily paracetamol tablet could put you at risk of deadly heart disease and kidney failure, a new study suggests.

The best thing about essential oils.

Friday, 7 July 2017 1:30:38 PM Australia/Sydney

I’ve been involved in the natural health industry now for just over twenty years and if there is one thing that I love the most about essential oils it is their versatility.

No other form of healing can match them.  Be it in the way they are applied - taken by mouth (as in France), applied to the skin; vapourised or added to a bath; and for the incredible number of conditions that they treat.

We need more nurturing and care during the winter months.

Monday, 19 June 2017 1:18:48 PM Australia/Sydney

I’ve had many people ask me what I do to keep well during the autumn and winter months.  Often when it’s cold we feel like hibernating (I know I do) which is a natural response to protect your body from the cold.  Winter is when we have to cope with more dust and dirt within our homes, as we tend to stay indoors where we are warm and cosy.

Good organic food, vitamins, minerals and the use of essential oils and colloidal silver are what I find keeps my body in balance and boosts my immune system.  I still get sick occasionally, we all do, but I find in my case it’s more due to an emotional crisis than to my body being exposed to all the bugs and viruses.  When I do get sick it doesn’t last long, usually only 1 to 2 days whereas in the past if I came down with the flu it could last anything from a week to 2 weeks.

Cleansing our bodies is vital to our health and well-being and certainly helps improve our immune system.

The following suggestions may help you too.

If you have some of these symptoms you may have irritable bowel disease

Wednesday, 29 March 2017 4:14:03 PM Australia/Sydney

Essential oils can help as they are anti-inflammatory and they also relax the bowel due to their antispasmodic properties.

Around one in five Australians experiences the unpleasant symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) at some time. These include abdominal pain, mucus in the stools, and alternating diarrhoea and constipation. Other terms for irritable bowel syndrome include ‘spastic colon’ and ‘irritable colon’. It seems that people with IBS have sensitive bowels that are easily ‘upset’. More women than men are prone to IBS, and symptoms tend to first occur in early adulthood.

The cause is unknown, but environmental factors such as changes of routine, emotional stress, infection and diet can trigger an attack. Research has shown that the neurotransmitter serotonin may be important in the symptoms of IBS, by altering the function of nerve cells in the bowel and causing changes in pain sensation and bowel function.

Irritable bowel syndrome doesn’t cause lasting damage and doesn’t contribute to the development of serious bowel conditions, such as cancer or colitis.

The underlying cause of irritable bowel syndrome is still unknown, but certain factors have been found to ‘trigger’ attacks in susceptible individuals.

Many people are now having to treat themselves as the health system fails us.

Thursday, 16 March 2017 11:59:21 AM Australia/Sydney

When I was young I looked up to my doctor with awe and respect. To be honest I was very scared of him, but I knew never to doubt his authority over my body.  What he said was taken as truth by my mother and so if I needed medicine or treatment of any kind it was never questioned. It took many, many years for me to even realise that there were other ways to heal myself as my faith in my doctor and his allopathic system was absolute.

Now, a large percentage of people don't even have a regular doctor as our reliance on medical centres has grown due to the shortage of good general practitioners. And along with Americans, Australians are the most likely to report a medical, medication, or lab error, with 20 percent saying they've experienced one of the above over the past year. For those with chronic diseases, the rates are even higher.

You would not be human if you were not concerned about the deteriorating health care system and doctor-patient relationship. But what is the alternative?

When our medical system seems like a comedy of errors...

Thursday, 16 March 2017 11:46:20 AM Australia/Sydney

CARMEL'S STORY began when she tripped over the garden hose and landed on her hand.

Carmel had been filling up the water trough for her very much loved alpaca's and miniature donkeys when she came a cropper. Thinking that not much damage was done she just kept applying BE RELIEVED.

A couple of weeks later she decided to go to the doctor and have an x-ray as it was still a little tender, but not swollen. When the doctor advised that it wasn't broken she just assumed that it would take time to heal. Another couple of weeks passed and as it was still painful Carmel went back to the medical centre to have it x-rayed again by another doctor.

That was when she was told that it was broken in three places.
